Located at Young Harris College, the O. Wayne Rollins Planetarium is Georgia’s largest and most modern astronomy venue. With a dome over 40 feet in diameter, this space is the perfect place to enjoy a starry night. The theater features advanced light guided technology, allowing users to experience a real-life starry sky. The O. Wayne Rollins Planetarium was built in 1979 and is home to a state-of-the-art GOTO Chronos Space Simulator star projector that uses light guide technology to create a believable starry sky. This advanced projection system uses computer-calculated positioning to provide a high-quality image for the audience. The planetarium at the O. Wayne Rollins College campus is home to Georgia’s largest astronomy exhibit, including a 5.1 surround-sound sound system and full-dome digital projection system. It is also home to a free observatory. The college is home to a renowned astronomy observatory and a planetarium that was built by the college’s founders, Wayne and Grace, in 1979.
The O. Wayne Rollins Planetarium is the largest space museum in the southeast and the only planetarium in Georgia that is in the state. This facility features regular shows, which are held every Friday night. Admission to the O. Wayne Rollins Planetarium is free and students can attend these shows for free if they show their school IDs. There are more than 30 public shows a year.

Guests can view an array of planets, stars, and constellations. In addition to the planetarium’s dome, the O. Wayne Rollins Planetarium has a small, but highly impressive full dome digital projection system. Six Sky-Skan edge-blended video projectors use DLP (digital light processing) technology to create a virtual dome-based image of the universe.
